Vectrex Portraits

“Vectrex Portraits” is an experiment driven process. Images are created using a modified Vectrex Gaming Console(link) from 1983 in combination with a modular synthesizer. The Vectrex is like an Oscilloscope in that it displays audio rate wave forms in equal amounts across the X and Y axis. Using a stereo audio image with Left and Right channels, the Left is sent to X and the Right is sent to Y. The resulting images reflect the audio used to produce them, a la “what you see is what you hear.”

The vectrex was then photographed by Wyatt Kane. You can find his work here ->

After the photoshoot, I composed these final images in Photoshop, using individual captures to create these complilations of stills, similar to a contact sheet in analog photography.
